CARROT TAMARIND PULIHORA

DESCRIPTION

*Pulihora with a tamarind is a traditional  Andhra festival  meal .
*Its normally serves for breakfast,meals and even for dinner.it is tasty as well as healthy and nutritious dish.
*This is a homely recipe,perfectly cooked in the comfort of the home with cooked rice which is seasoned with tamarind and other basic ingredients.
*It is experimented with new twists b adding vegetables.serve with pickles like mango,gongura it gives a great taste to it.
*It will also one of the prasadam in god's temple.

*it is most prestigious dish in hindu gods temples.

INGREDIENTS

*Cooked rice-2 cups
*Tamarind pulp-1 cup
*Carrot(grated)-1/2 cup
*Turmeric powder-2 tsp(haldi)
*Red chilli(dry)-4
*Green chilli-4
*Curry leaves-1sprng
*Channadal-2tsp
*Urad dal-1 tsp
*Coriander-1 sprng
*Cumin seeds-few
*Mustard seeds-few
*Salt added to taste
*Oil-1/2 cup
*Ground nuts-few
*Cashew-few
*Asfoetidia-little 

   HOW TO MAKE CARROT TAMARIND PULIHORA


  • wash and soak tamarind in hot water for 5 minutes  squeeze  and make a thick paste .pass it through a filter, discard stones and pulp.
  • wash and cook rice till just done,dont make the rice mushy  grains must be separated .cool the rice on a wide plate.sprinkle salt and turmeric powder.
  • Take a bowl add 2 cups of rice and add turmeric powder,oil 1 tsp,salt and mix evenly and add tamarind pulp then mix the juice to the rice.take a bowl and add oil keep it on stove at slow flame.
  • add red chills it becomes fry then add urad dal,mustard seeds,cumin seeds,channa dal,ground nuts and splited green chillies it will turns to brown colour .add curry leaves then add  grated carrot and coriander leaves
  • add hing,tamarind pulp,jaggery 
  • cook the mixture till the mixture thickens otherwise pulihora will be very moist. 
  • then finally add asfoetidia.then turn of the stove.keep this mixture pour in to the rice mixture then mix evenly 
  • .serve to a bowl garnish with cashew nuts,carrot,coriander leaves.then yummy yummy carrot tamarind pulihora is ready to eat.enjoy the taste.
  • serve with grilled papad or chips like potato chips .
  • serve tamarind rice or pulihora with fresh home made curd.
  • pulhora is served in breakfast ,lunch and dinner it is all time favourate dish.
RECOMMENDED

  • Mostly pulihora is making by using citrous fruits.
  • Lemon pulihora is take rice  and mix lemon juice instead of tamarind paste add carrot is optional 
  • Mango pulihora is gives a grate taste using raw grated mango to the rice mix it evenly add salt turmeric and oil then keep it thalimpu mix all the ingredients.
  • Citron pulihora is different taste of the pulihora recipe.citron is a seasonal fruit it is also known as dabbakaya in telugu.take citron and extract juice from it.
  • And mix it in to rice and turmeric powder,salt sprinkle to the rice add rice in to popu or thalimpu.
  • Adding more ground nuts gives fabulous taste

NOTE


  • It will also prepared by using lemons,mangoes,citron and other vegetables.
  • You can also add chopped beans,green  peas ,other vegetables along with carrot and other vegetables to make pulihora .
  • For pulihora recipe,using jaggery enhances the taste without adding much sweetness to the rice.
  • Using sesame seeds powder or mustard powder is optional.
  • If you are looking for avapulihora also called as avapetina pulihora use mustard powder
